OUR LEEKS

'10,000

TONNES'

Our main crop, we grow 1,000 acres of leeks, producing around 10,000 tonnes annually.

'Allium ampeloprasum var. Porrum' is a member of the Allium family which includes chives, garlic and onions.

Like the onion, the leek is a very versatile ingredient used in cooking many different dishes.

The leek is one of the emblems of Wales, but grows very well in the various soil types found throughout East Anglia.

Drilling starts during early Spring, and harvesting takes place from July through to the following May.

Some of our most popular varieties are; Linkton, Longton, Lexton, Belton and Krypton.
