PROJECT SPRINKLER

The main purpose of the project is to invest in a high-volume pump and underground main to transport water efficiently around Holly House Farm to irrigate crops.

The objective is to make better use of an existing 45,000 cubic meter reservoir. This is equivalent to 400 - acre inches of irrigation on all crops, which is currently abstracted from drains and ditches. The high-volume pump feeding an underground water distribution ring main with hydrants strategically placed around the farm will service all the fields on the 800 -acre farm.

With better irrigation infrastructure a larger proportion of the farm will be irrigated more efficiently, improving productivity, innovation and reducing risk of drought.

This project is part funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development: Europe investing in rural areas
